Biomedical Discovery Tower
A MAGNET FOR INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
On April 19, 2017, the University of Haifa and Rambam Health Care Campus signed a landmark agreement
embarking on a new academic and scientific collaboration.
Slated to be among the most advanced medical research institutes in the world, the 20-floor Biomedical Discovery Tower
will bring together scientists and healthcare professionals from the region to create and foster an environment fueling
investigation, discovery and innovation, advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
Six floors of the Tower will house University laboratories to support basic and applied research. Lab activities will
engage in life sciences, public health, and pharmaceutical research. The Tower’s close proximity to the hospital will
enable close collaborations between University scientists and Rambam clinicians, and provide access to advanced medical facilities.
At the ceremony, President Robin noted, “The new academic and scientific collaboration will position the University as a key partner
in the rapidly growing life sciences research hub in Haifa, joining Rambam Hospital, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and
the Biomedical Science Park.” The government of Israel supports the efforts of this ambitious project. The fundraising target for the
University of Haifa’s portion of this project is $20 million.
